Antibiotics are only effective at treating or preventing bacterial infections.
They will not do anything to treat or prevent viruses, such as those that cause the common cold or flu, nor will they help treat the symptoms of them.
In this case, it could help with the sinus infection, but will not actually do anything to alleviate the cough.
