I had my teeth cleaned last week and after that I had pain in the left side of my face where I have a crown, the pain is getting worse that I can't sleep at night. I took Cipro 00 for 2 days now with out any change on the pain level. does that mean that it won't work? thank you

Hello, Rara! How are you?

The general rule with antibiotics is if they are working, there should be no worsening after the first 24 hours and you should see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

However, the issue is that your pain may not be due to an infection and, if that is the case, then the antibiotic will not help.

Have you consulted your dentist?
