Changes In Generic Losartan
UpdatedIs it possible that my new green 100 mg Losartan makes me feel differently than the white 100 mg? Can the pill change whenever the generic manufacturer changes? Can I get my pharmacy to get me the white pills?

Hello, Nancy! How are you?
Yes, there can be slight fluctuations from one generic to another, so one may affect you differently and make you feel slightly different than another. As to changing with your pharmacy, that is entirely up to them and whether or not they can get the others in for you.
Do you happen to remember who the manufacturer was?
This medication is an ARB that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.
What types of symptoms did it cause? How is your blood pressure?
I'm having the same problem. I was on the green version of the Losartan through Rite Aide. But I received such poor customer service from the store that I switched to CVS. Their generic version of Losartan is white. With this version, I am dizzy ALL the time. I hate the thought of switching again since I can't stand the other pharmacy. But it's either switch, or I will just stop taking them. This is terrible!
Hello, Lauren! I'm sorry about the dizziness. Is it still happening?
If the dizziness is just due to the medication being slight stronger, then it should wear off in a week or two, once your body adjusts.
However, there's a chance that your blood pressure might be going a bit too low. Have you ever checked it, when you're dizzy?
And please, don't go off of this medication, without consulting your doctor and replacing it with something else. Doing so could cause a rebound effect that may cause dangerously elevated heart rate and blood pressure, which may put your life at risk.
I recently filled my script and got the green ones and now I seem to have this rash on my neck and chest. i had this issue with my cholesterol med couple of years ago along with a slight cough. I am also allergic to sulfa drugs and wonder if this new pill is causing this rash.
Dawn, actually in your case, it might be due to this one being slightly stronger in dosage.
Many people that are allergic to sulfa drugs end up having reactions to many of the cardiac/blood pressure medications, because they are similar, though not exactly the same.
Thus, your body may not have gotten enough of it to react to the other one, but if getting more, you may be reacting to this one.
I am also allergic to sulfa drugs and was warned about the possibility of this by my pharmacist. I also researched it on my own to confirm the validity.
You may need your doctor to write your prescription as 'brand medically necessary', or whatever the equivalent is in your state to avoid this in the future.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
I did contact my doctor and he had me fill my script with the previous brand. It was only available in 50 mg. So take twice a day. Rash has almost completely disappeared in less than a week. Pharmacy has noted it in my records and will make sure I get previous vendors medications.
Great! I'm glad your pharmacy is willing to do that for you.
How is the rash, now?
