Verwon is right.
Hello, Cici! How are you?
No, the government doesn't set the price. It's just my opinion, but my best guess is that your pharmacist was just making up an excuse for the price increase.
What really happened is that due to mandatory manufacturing limits, a shortage almost always occurs toward the end of the year and usually is rectified about mid-January of the new year. That coupled with the fact that any with the higher amount of Acetaminophen in them have been discontinued just made the problem even worse and resulted in a price increase.
If you can't afford the medication, your doctor may be able to prescribe an alternative, if you talk to them about it.
Is there anything else I can help with?
