i can take amoxycillin... can i take cephalexin 500mg??

@Libby - do you have any known medication allergies? Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic, whereas Cephalexin is a cephalosporin antibiotic. They are generally prescribed for similar types of bacterial infections (Cephalexin being given to those sensitive to penicillin antibiotics). I think you should be fine, just be sure to pay close attention to listed side effects or signs of an allergic reaction. When in doubt double check with your prescriber as well. Some possible side effects of the Cephalexin are:

"Common adverse effects include digestive system upset such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, and abdominal pain. Others may include dizziness, agitation, headache, joint pain, and tiredness. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, trouble breathing, or red, blistered, swollen or peeling skin. Overall, allergies occur in less than 0.1% of patients; they are seen in about 1% to 10% of patients with penicillin allergy."
