I am taking Cefalexina (Facelit) for the first time for sinus and uper respatory. The print is so small on the label. Is it one a day & for how many days. US antibotics are 3 times for 10days. It is not good to stop taking before the recommended no. of days.

Do any of you what an antibiotic is for. It is to kill bacterium. Remember nothing can kill a virus except for specific medicine. An antibiotic WILL NOT KILL A VIRUS no matter what. Even if there is an infection an antibiotic will not work even it is beings cause by a virus. If you think that you got better by taking an antibiotic for a sickness by a virus then you forgot to account for other factors as your own body immune system. And remember THE FLU AND COLD ARE BOTH VIRUSES.

Cefalexina does translate to Cephalexin. I was prescribed the antibiotic while in Mexico when I had a throat and sinus infection that I tought was strep throat.
The particular brand that I was prescribed was Collins Facelit 500mg pills.

my doctor in the US gave me a sample to treat an upper respiratory infection. It is supposed to distroy the walls of bacteria. It worked. I then got some from MX.

Cephalexin is reported as an ingredient of Cefalexina. In Mexico I asked for Cipro and was given this. As a nurse I would advise anyone do not take an antibiotic without a Dr's order. Sometimes taking the wrong antibiotic can make your illness worse.

My wife was given this in Costa Rica.. not sure what it is - ie is it an antibiotic in the penicillin family? She is allergic to penicillin family of antibiotics so she has not taken it yet..try to get hold of her DR today (just got back).. looking for info on it package says CEFALEXINA 500 MG

Apparently from what I´ve read it is not penecillin, and is actually used with pacients who have problems taking penicillin. It´s for bacterial infections.

I am currently taking 500 mg. 3x daily of cefalexina as part of an attack on my BOT fly infestation. The doctor I saw in Belize said it would kill everything!
I have a cream and a antihistamine as well.
Tip: while travelling on the "cayes" of Belize and south wear insect repellent even on windy days, I am suffering through at least 20 sites! Yuk!
