What type of medication are you referring to?

There are many black capsules that could be OTC, Rx, or even dietary supplements; so I can't really narrow down what you're looking for until we get a name or imprint.

I doubt the availability is there if you're ordering medications from a magazine that's at least 20 years old. However if you did order from a magazine, odds are it probably wasn't a prescription or OTC drug. It could very well be a supplement of some sort.

Have you had any experience taking them in the past?
