Cannot Fill Prescription
UpdatedI have been prescribed and been taking Dilaudid 8MG for the past two years, ever since I switched from Oxycodone because of the trouble I had filling my prescriptions. I am prescribed it monthly, by the same doctor, and fill it at the same pharmacy. Always. Now they told me, on March 11th, that I have to wait until April 1st to have it filled. What the HELL? That's three weeks away! I need the medication to be able to WORK. Now I am stuck, because every other pharmacy i went to says they cannot fill it or they haven't carried it for a year. I specifically switched to this medication because of this problem. Now I cannot fill it? I have checked five Walgreens, four CVS', three independent stores, and am in a pickle. I will lose my job if I cannot perform the functions of my position as an A/C contractor here in Florida. I cannot afford to stay at home in pain until April, my season is heating up NOW. So I need to work, but for that I need to be on my medication.
I could use whatever suggestions anyone has. If I cannot work, I cannot pay my bills. I was loyal to this pharmacy for years, even if they were overcharging me at $4.50 a pill. They always had my meds, or I had to wait a day or so. I cannot wait THREE WEEKS. Another pharmacy said they would be able to fill Opana, whatever that is. My doctor is out-of-town for the rest of the week. This was my day to just pick-up my Rx, not have the checkup. That's next month. So I cannot consult with him until next week, and it is pretty darned hard to get him on the phone, and I cannot miss another day of work to wait in the office to ask what he suggests. I will, actually, do that...But it'd be nice to have an idea what i could take instead before then.
Help appreciated. I wonder if I could use one of those mail Rx drugstores, where they mail it to me. That's legal, since I have a prescription, right? Like I said, I know very little about this.

Hello, Xero! How are you doing? Did you manage to get it filled, yet?
Every pharmacy is limited on how much of any given controlled substance medication they can order in each month and once they run out, there is nothing they can do, until the new month, when they can order a new supply. That's most likely why you were told they couldn't fill it, until April first.
Opana is just another narcotic that's used to treat severe pain, but you'd need your doctor to write a new prescription.
Does anyone else have any suggestions that may help?
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
