Cannot Fill My Prescription For Oxycodone 30 In Florida (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

i have tried everywhere in my county that i live in florida, get the same answer from all the walgreens and the pharmacies in my area they are out and dont know when they will have it if ever again. i think this is a shame for a person who has a prescription from a doctor and is in severe pain all waking hours. i think this is also a shame because all it does is gives the drug dealers on the streets a reason to charge $20.00 a pill and laugh at us all the way to their bank. there has got to be some relief for us honest people that are suffering and work hard to have insurance and be up standing citizens. i thank our governor for making this problem worse in florida and feeding right into the drug dealer hands. please can someone help and get the honest people who suffer everyday the relief they need. thank you

No idea in CA I'm in FL. Good luck. If not go down Percocet 10s and it hydrocodone 10. Those will usually get filled anywhere. If it's a legit doc.

Just so you know Dilaudid is just a potent as oxycodone. And just as easy or just as hard to fill. Many pharmacys would rather fill Dilaudid over oxycodone. They are both a C2 narcotic. They are practically the same. So you who said that it is impossible to fill Dilaudid anywhere in Florida is so not true. Know what your talking about before you make a post.

You are going to need to find a local mom n pop type of pharmacy. Take all your scripts there, not just a pain med. I had trouble filling for a few months until I did this. A local pharmacy. Even the pharmacists said as long as you bring me all your meds every month I will fill them, if you even Motrin at another one, they would not fill anymore. So I just always go,to the same as I have for years, who will not take any new patients for class2 narcotics. You can a publix until you find the right pharmacist, some will do it. You will have an easier time filling oxycodone 15mg than 30s fyi

Dilaudid is a very powerful pain killer and I seriously doubt you will find any south Florida pharmacist to fill that for you. MAYBE a hospital has a pharmacy with that drug. I understand about not finding pain killers here in south Florida. Once I visited 14 pharmacies until I finally found a mom and pop who would fill it. Only after a 1/2 hour conversation with my doctor's office, a thorough investigation of my RX history and a serious talk with me. I tell you everyone here is absolutely paranoid. I have very severe pain problems so I completely feel for everyone in this thread. The JUNKIES have made it impossible for those of us who legitimately need opiates.

Jim, thank you for the Methadone advice, but I had always avoided it when any of my previous scripts were written over the (17 to 20 years of having strong narcotic pain medication prescribed for severe bone & joint damage). In the beginning I just felt uncomfortable with the name and associated it with drug abuse, as a medication to "come down off of" when doctors were trying to help addictive behavior v. dependent behavior (when one must depend on a medication to relieve pain distress over a long term dependency). However, as Oxycontin/ and instant Oxycodone became harder and harder to fill, Methadone was suggested again, occasionally, and I began to read about it before even considering the alternative to Oxycodone which works like magic, and almost allows me to feel like I can move without such crippling pain. Jim, I read and read and frankly, that drug scares me so badly, that I actually resent any doctor who would suggest it in place of the alternatives, as I hate the DEA & government controls that would allow it and frown on Oxycodone. I believe it is one of the most dangerous medications on the market and really I cannot understand why as a narcotic, or narcotic substitute anyone in the medical field, or DEA would give preference to this drug. I encourage you to read about the dangerous "half life" this drug has, which means how long it lingers in your body, and accumulates. I understand that to mean that I would have the pain relief wear off long before the accumulative effect of this drug leaves my body. I think that means, for example, say I am in this really severe pain and the Methadone wears off, and someone gives me a strong Oxycontin, which, in this kind of pain, I couldn't refuse, that the increased danger of Od'ing because combined dosages could mean too much- is a very real toxic danger to individuals.

I use this simple explanation as my lay way of explaining my fear of that drug, I don't accept Oxycodone when offered and take my meds as directed, when and if, I can even get them anymore. I am resentful of the gov control, angered that my drug behavior and ethical beliefs have so changed in the past three years of this severe over control of legally prescribed medications, that now even local pharmacies explain they cannot get enough in their orders to even fill their regular customers demands. I can now barely move or take care of myself, and all, I blame on the lack of enough pain medication to allow me to keep moving and stay active. I have become anxious every time get a new prescription, wondering if I can even get the medication prescribed. I am now taking approx. 1/3rd the amount I used to take for at least `15 years before this problem presented itself and seems to have stayed around so long, i.e. obtaining narcotic meds for severe pain control, in Florida, and I believe spreading slowly to other states. Are there any states where this problem stayed normal and wasn't blown up into life-threatening stoppage of getting the meds anymore, oh-and without any care or prevision to make sure patients taking the medication regularly would be watched carefully as they were suddenly denied further prescriptions and their treatment came to a sudden and abrupt halt. Are there any legal channels to sue the gov. or Pam Bondi (Repulican Attny. General sadly reelected- ) for the physical and mental damage to the regular population that used to be able to get pain management legally, and then suddenly suffered from the sudden stoppage of these medications and their availability? Is there an attorney in the "house" who might offer an opinion or show a reason and a way to begin legal action for damages to these individuals like myself who can prove physical damage due to being denied ongoing pain management?

Yes it's sad that the our government has stopped the pharmacy from being able to fill anyone with a prescription from a certified Doctor!!! I mean if the doctor is running a pill mill shut him down but to stop my pharmacy from giving my medicine should be illegal!!! They should have to fill anyone who walks in the door. I was hit by a bulldozer in the back and have two ruptured disc and I drove to 45 pharmacys and all said no. One even said yes they had it but I had to live 5 miles from them. That was at a Walgrees so I told them that my local Walgrees was out of medicine and they said nothing they could do. So I got no sleep do to my pain last night and I am about to cry not knowing what to do.

I'm in California and it's getting harder and harder every month to fill my script for 180 30mg oxycodone. Than when I do find one some won't fill more than 120. Even earlier this year not all the pharmacies were connected like Rite Aid was separate from the others so I didn't even have to wait a full month to fill (the good ole days) The DEA just came up with some new regulations/guidelines for pharmacies. Yesterday one pharmacist said I need to have other medicines on my file. They keep coming up with new rules. How do I get on that Walgreens list? That sounds like the best option

You can blame republican cannidate Pm Bondi for problems getting any narcotic medication, but especially legally getting your doctors and pharmacists to feel safe prescribing and filling them. She is running for US Attorney General and have you caught her adds giving herself credit for not only closing down illegal "pill mills" she forgets to ad that she has made no alternative arrangements for very sick patients with chronic pain long term healthcare issues getting anything while she is making it so hard for the young people to stop abusing??? How so when she seems to have gone after seniors and legal prescribers and pharmacies that you can no longer get the medication you need. I was a former republican until I heard her ads and now I beg, VOTE NO FOR REPLUCAN TEAM AND ESPECIALLY PAM BONDI FOR ATTNY. GENERAL!!! NO NO NO!!!!

I've been on several pain meds for years. Several years ago my husband was working in Fla. I went with him with 3 months of scripts. Stopped and got my 1st months filled no problem. 2month and they said no we can't fill these scripts. Mind you i live in NC. When we said "you filled them last month!" They said, "NO WE DID NOT, WE CAN not FILL SCRIPTS SIGNED BY A PA!" WHEN I HELD THE BOTTLE UP HE TRIED TO GRAB IT. STILL SAYING NO WE ARE Not ALLOWED.
I called my doctor who knew I was in Fla. I had to mail my scripts back to him and wait till he mailed me new scripts signed by the HNIC. SORRY. IT'S NOT DRUG ADDICTTS THAT ARE THE PROBLEM. IT'S THE DAMN DOCTORS WHO MAKE PEOPLE WITH REAL PAIN JUMP THRU HOOPS IN ORDER TO GET MEDICINE THAT THE REALLY NEED. GOOD LUCK TO MY FELLOW SUFFERERS. I WISH YOU LUCK IN FINDING ALICE DOWN THE RABBITT HOLE..TY STEPHEN TYLER USE TO SAY HE KNEW ALICE VERY WELL.

I am one of many people with well documented severe joint and muscle pain who had been taking Oxycodone and Oxycontin in strong doses for over 15 years until last few years with the recent crackdown in Florida, "against pill mills" which have made getting a legitimate pain Management doctor or all of our pharmacies, almost impossible to get any kind of narcotic medication filled. AFTER I HEARD PAM BONDI BRAGGING IN HER AD (RUNNING FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL ON THE REPULICAN TICKET, BRAGGING THAT SHE IS THE REASON FLORIDA NO LONGER HAS PILL MILLS AND THANKS TO HER EFFORTS, SHE CLAIMS, THERE IS NO OXYCODONE OR OCYCONTIN BEING PRESCRIBED OR FILLED IN THIS STATE. I urge everyone to vote against Pam Bondi-NO!!! (if you ever want to be able to have your doctors take care of your chronic and severe pain issues without all these new and ridiculous restrictions that make it almost,if not impossible to get these personal and important life saving prescriptions filled. This candidate should be locked up.

If you really want pain relief without trying to get the medicines that people are after on the street, ask your doctor for methadone. There are a lot of mis-leading information on methadone, like it rots your teeth is the biggest, that's methamphetamine, the drug made illegally and smoked, its the chemicals in it that cause "methmouth" and methadone doesn't cause a euphoric high either, that's why nobody on the street wants it. Its cheap and remains in your system a long time. It's used to help H addicts kick the habit at clinics, but for that they get very high doses which stops the addict from the sickness kicking the habit of H causes. If it's for pain management the doses are from 5mg to 40mg 2 or 3 times a day. The only downfall is morning after metabolism the tablet when taken takes a little while longer than other medicines like vicoden or hydrocodone/oxycodone, but if you wanna go from pain level 10 to 1 or zero, trust me, methadone as little as 10mg works amazing!

Thank you for replying. I wasn't really looking for an answer to whether I can do it or not, because I am pretty sure I CAN. CA does not have such a database. I was looking for whether I would get myself in any trouble legally by taking advantage of two different insurances for the same thing at approximately the same time, OR would I create an obligation on my part to PAY the full retail price for one of them if it became discovered that I did fill both scripts. Anybody want to take a stab at that one? Thanks everyone!

The answer to your question is no. If you are in Fl you cannot fill both. You can only fill one every 28 days. You can however fill these back to back and always keep your newest prescription incase you ever lose your doctor or something and that will give you an extra month to find one. Fl has a database and it will not allow you to fill the same narcotic prescription ANY sooner then 28 days. Hope that helps!

I have a severe spinal condition and have been on the same dose of Oxycodone for over 12 years. I am in the middle of transitioning from Covered California subsidized HealthNet to Medicare. I have overlapping coverage for the month of September. As a result, I have two valid prescriptions for Oxycodone 30mg. I was wondering if I could get them both filled without getting myself in any trouble. It would be nice to have a few of these in reserve so I don't have to panic every month as my prescription starts to get really low. If one of the Insurance Companies winds up charging me full retail for one of the scripts, I do not have the money to pay for it, so I thought I would ask some questions first. Thanks for anyone who might know something and can advise me here. -MrNorth.

You are wrong!!! I get my Oxycodone 30mg #90 every month at Walgreens. yes there was a Walgreens location in South Florida near Miami that was dispensing 240 tablets per prescription that they can no longer do and they will not do most pharmacist nowadays will not even cell number 180 it's all about the numbers now days three to five years ago you could walk into a pharmacy and get 180 tablets filled with no questions asked nowadays they look at you like you're a drug dealer. So don't say something that you are not fully aware of saying that Walgreens cannot ever fill oxycodone again that's kind of strange since I filled my prescription there 3 days ago if they have it they will fill it now if they have been in trouble with the DEA at a particular location with a perticular pharmacist then yes they may no at the pharmacist discretionle to dispense o whereas they do fill that medication if they have it in stock and its not for over 150 tablets... find it a shame that peple get on here and say something that is far from true. some people get on here and say .....also keep in mind that it's always up to the pharmacist they have the right to refuse service to anyone.. Walgreens can't fill that ..why would someone say just because tgwy one bad experience. medicine quote whereas they do feel that medication if they have it in stock and its not for over 150 are able to fill at the
