Canadin Pharmacies
UpdatedMy husband suffers terribly with an inoperable back condition, with a severe curvature of the spine, bulging and herniated disks, etc. It has been suggested that he get his pain meds from Canada since has become such a challenge to get them here in Florida. The pharmacy has limited how many pills he can get in any given month, despite what his prescription calls for. The medication he is having difficulty getting filled is Exalgo. If anyone knows of or has dealt with a reputable Canadian pharmacy and can recommend one please let me know.

Hello, Bekkah! How are you? Sorry about the issues that your husband is dealing with.
There are limits on how much of any medication in a certain dosage he can receive each month, this has always been the case, it's just the some pharmacies weren't enforcing it. However, this year the DEA has cracked down to make them start doing so.
Learn more Exalgo details here.
As to Canada, they have also cracked down to try to prevent abuse and diversion, so it is no longer easy for someone to obtain medications from there.
Additionally, if an equivalent medication is available in the U.S., doing so would be illegal. The only exceptions are for medications that aren't approved here yet that may save someone's life, or if someone is actually in a foreign country when the medication is prescribed by a foreign doctor, in that case, they can bring a 3 month supply into the U.S. with them, when they return home.
However, what he can do is speak to his doctor about it to see if they will prescribe an additional dosage, or a different medication. In that case, he would be able to get the prescription filled. Each prescribing limit only applies to that specific medication in that specific dosage.
In other words, someone could be prescribed 3 pills a day in a 20mg dosage and 2 pills a day in a 40mg dosage, then the pharmacy would be able to fill them both.
Is there anything else I can help with? Are there any other questions or concerns?
