Can You Take Vicodin With Tylenol 3

My wife has liver and pancreatic cancer. She has pain in her stomach as well as indigestion. Will Vicodin work better than Tylenol or is there something better?

Hello, Kip! How are you and your wife? I'm sorry that she's in so much pain.

The Vicodin is actually stronger, so if her doctors has prescribed it, she may want to try it, instead. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

However, there are also many other medications that she could try, such as Oxycodone, Opana and Dilaudid. All of which she could ask her doctor about. They carry the same risk and cause most of the same side effects as what I've already listed.

NIH lists these, as well as other options, for cancer pain.

As to the indigestion, she might need something for that, as well. Has she spoken to her doctor about it? An antacid might help.
