Can You Take Oxycodone 10 5 325 Every 3 Hours

I have melanoma cancer and a horrific case of shingles. I have been prescribed oxycodone 10/325 1 every four hours. In addition I am treated at the spine and pain center for spinal stenous and osteoporosis. I need to try same dosage every three hours to control my pain because I really struggle that fourth hour with lots of pain.
Would that cause a problem? I am male in my middle 70's.

Oxycodone can be given without any Tylenol. I take 15mg 4 times a day for my inflamitory arthritis. I could take more if my pain doc thought I needed it. It can also be given in a time release form. It's more expencive that way-depending on your insurance.

Thanks for the response. I have seen the doc regarding my shingles. Truly not much help. Just had my pain doc prescribe strongest % for lidocaine, have tried applications twice now, and honestly never felt the numbing process at all
My shingles go across my chest, under my left armpit, down my left arm to the elbow and around the left side of my back to my spine. I have had them for at least 2 months, and no sign of relief. I'm afraid I may be in for a long haul.
I feel I'm almost consumed with pain, not much sleep, hard to think and in short, struggling to hold on.
I would chase a ostrich down and kiss his rear end if it would help. Guess i'm saying I would be willing to try anything. lol.
I do appreciate everyone's responses and contributions.

Chat Have you seen your doc for the shingles? I had them and the pain is crazy. Couldn't get away from it. You know your not supposed to take more, but if you do, try 1/2 a tab extra, and just remember if you take more your rx will run out early. How does your doc feel about that? Where are your shingles? You can try hydrocortisone cream,benadryl cream, lidocaine jell, anything that will numb the skin. Baking soda, or oatmeal bath, lots of old timey short term stuff, but no long term relief. Try solarcaine spray for sunburns! It cools and numbs, may sting at first worth a try. hope this helps.

It would be best not to adjust your dosage, without your doctor's approval.

It could create the risk of overdose and/or you may run out early, which may make your doctor think you have an addiction problem, so they might stop prescribing.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
