The usual dosing is every 4 to 6 hours, as needed for pain, but you should follow the instructions that were provided with your prescription.

It can be taken with or without food, but taking it on an empty stomach may cause you to experience more nausea and dizziness than usual.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
