Can This Drug Make You Gain Weight

My girlfriend has been taking this drug for a year and has been watching what she eat and excercising but still gaining weight, she never had this problem until she started using ranitidine 150mg

i want to know if ranitidine can make a person to gain weight and does it have a side effect

I have been taking ranitidine 150 for about six months. I have gained 18 lbs during this time even though I have not changed my eating habits. I have high cholesterol and have to watch my diet.

Rantidine is an antacid that's used to treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis.

And no, weight gain isn't listed as a normal side effect of this medication.

However, I don't want to discount it entirely, because it's hard to guess how any medication will affect any person that takes it, since we are all different.

If the weight gain is too much for your health, then it may be necessary to try a different medication.

Hi - I have been taking Ranitidine for over a year and gained over a stone. This was my last resort for acid reflex (I'm 66) , tried most other things but this worked. My Dr said there were no known issues with weight gain. I've tried diets that have worked in the past with no effect my weight won't budge. After reading these threads it looks like this is now why I am putting on weight....its good to know why but how do I lose it as I can't stop taking the drug....
