Can T Find Hydrocodone In Orlando Fl 2014 (Page 2)

Updated

Have a legitimate prescription for Hydrocodone 5/325 but have been all over Orlando and no pharmacy has them in stock. Have tried them all - Walgreens, CVS, Target, WalMart, etc. Can anyone help? If you know any pharmacy where you've had some success, please be willing to share. I am out tomorrow and am growing anxious and afraid. I don't know what else I can do.

Please don't apologize! You have every right to voice your frustrations. I'm glad you were able to find them. I've tried pharmacies near hospitals and no luck. That's when I knew there was a serious shortage. Walmart, who Florida Hospital claims to always have it in stock, has been out since I originally posted. And the only hospital with an outpatient pharmacy is Health Central,
but your doctor has to be affiliated with them. Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it. It's not something I would wish on my enemy but I now know I'm not the only one going through this.

Tracy, I haven't compared the amounts allotted to manufacturers for the past few yrs for this particluar med, so I don't know if the amounts have been increased or not. That info is published in the Federal Register each yr before it is done and comments are taken. The active ingredient in tramadol isn't allotted like those in Schedule II.

I just don't understand the Hydrocodone shortage. I was addicted to them, but thankfully off them since 2011. Guess they are classified like Oxycontin and such.

So I went to health central today since my doctor is affiliated with them and their public pharmacy is out of hydrocodone. Sigh....

BethWard, Hydrocodone combination meds are now a Schedule II which is the same Schedule as Oxycotin. The only opiate that is not a Schedule II is Tylenol with Codiene. Codiene Sulfate, which has no Tylenol is a Schedule II.

WOW!!! This is ridiculous! I'm seriously shocked at that - they're a HOSPITAL for Christ's sake! So what are their ER docs writing for pain scripts, I wonder?

I'm assuming that the hospital only allots the public pharmacy a small quantity as to not run out in the actual hospital. Either way it sucks. The pharmacist there was super nice and apologetic. She said that there are SO MANY people in this same situation that it breaks her heart, especially knowing that people are going home from the hospital after surgery with 10 painkillers and a script in their pocket and she knows that there will be a snowballs chance in hell that they will be able to get it fixed.

I feel bad for everyone needing the medication and not being able to fill it. I know how it is to be out of your pain medication when you need it. I am sure your like me...... chronic pain simply hurts. And when you run out or can not get it filled its completely horrible. I was on Hydrocodone for several years with my pain management Dr. Then was switched to Oxycodone. The Hydrocodone actually helped me more than what I am on now. I can not remember why I was switched to this. I do know I have ran out before I could get back in to see the Dr. With my script they can not fax it in or call it in. You have to have a script in your hand. And they do take your ID and make a copy of it. Anyone can get it filled for you......but they have to present their ID. The reason I ran out was because his nurse scheduled me and brought me in 4 days after my script ran out. I seen the date when I got home tried to have them make it sooner and she refused!! So now I make sure I get in at-least 3 days before I run out. I know what it feels like to run out and the pain seems like it intensifies during that time. Or I thought so.

Schedule II rxs can be faxed if the drs office and the pharmacy both have approved software.Schedule II meds can't be called in or refilled.

The DEA is giving my pharmacist a hard time because they have hit their quota. I can't find hydracodone 10-325 anywhere! Yes it comes from the manufacturer but the DEA has complete control and unfortunately when one or 2 pharmacies are not allowed to get anymore patients turn to other ones and they very quickly run out. At least that is what I am experiencing. I can't get it for at least a week and I am completely out. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE as I go to my Dr. Every month and take my meds very responsibly yet now I am left high and dry due to new legislation!!

I am very sorry to hear that you too are among those that are unable to get your prescriptions filled for your much needed medication! This has been going on now for well over a year and it is not going to change unless we .... do something that forces change! I am sorry that I do not know what it will take to get change but I recommend putting our heads together ASAP or we will continue to go through the same thing month after month~ Why is it that no one seems to care what this is doing to patients that rely on these medications for debilitating pain? In my opinion, this was brought on by the behavior of addicts but addicts have options that we do no because they do not suffer from pain!

Try tylenol with codeine. It is not yet federally controlled and probably in stock

I hope every one is telling their Drs of the problem they are having getting their medication filled. I do believe that is it allot of addicts that are the reason for the shortage. Meaning this. Fake prescriptions. Since this medication can still be called in from the Drs office...... if you know exactly what your doing they can call it in for a patient and get there drugs that way. They can do this using a different name for the Dr and different patient names allot several times a day. I personally knew a girl whose mother is actually a RN whom worked for a well known home health agency. She would call in meds for some of her patients and pick them up for them when she would go in to see them on her monthly rounds aka checking up on the NA's that normally sit with the patients. Her own daughter told me what her mother was doing. When the patient did not have a long time to live she would start calling in pain medication and this med was the one she called in allot. A large supply at a smaller dosage at first then heavier dosages. She would always pay for the pain meds separate. She did this for about 4 years before she was caught. She used to mail order these also. It was a actual mail order pharmacy that caught on to her. She was the supervisor of the place she worked at. The highest one they had. So the pharmacy had to try to go over her head without her catching on. They just so happen to call on a day she was off on vacation and got an employee to tell them how to get a hold of the person in her district. She was fired....but they did not have quite enough evidence to take her to court...... her place of employment that is. I think another reason was because they would have gotten into major trouble also if it got out. And yes there are dirty nurses out there whom get the meds to sell or take or give to someone that is addicted. In this ladies case...... it was the fact her husband was addicted to them. This is a good pain medication. And the sad part is..... when there is a shortage..... the people whom need it can not get it..... and then the Drs have to put you on something else.....that more than likely is more addictive ....... and more expensive. It makes things worse.

Jjanice, tylenol with codeine is a Schedule III. It can be called in and there can be refills. But, Codeine is a narcotic and is habit forming. Codeine Sulfate that is not combined with another med is a Schedule II.

I don't know if you all have seen the recent fallout from this shortage on the news here locally in Orlando and surrounding areas but patient complaints have finally reached the govt level! State Atty and FDA have commented on it claiming their mission is not to hurt or prohibit legit patients from getting their scripts... no one's buying that crap. People are demanding change and fast! So if you haven't already, please join the voices of patients complaining to our govt officials about this problem. The change to Sched II is being blamed, problem is how does it get resolved? In the meantime patients are suffering and being treated like addicts.
