Can Stopping Deselex Lead To Urtiricaria (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been taking Deselex for the last year, non-stop, due to allergic rhinitis and the high pollen count here in Cape Town (SA). This month, i did not get to the chemist in time, and within 3 days, my body was covered with acute urtiricaria (hives)... how can this be
possible, especially since I have never suffered from this condition before, and my diet has not changed at all.???

Well, we aren't medical professionals, so we can't provide a diagnosis, but there are several possibilities.
It could be caused from a new allergy, they can develop suddenly, or it could be a withdrawal or rebound symptom from suddenly not having your usual dosage of this medication.
This often happens when people stop a medication abruptly that they have been taking for a prolonged period of time. People on pain medications will experience rebound pain, which can be even worse than that which they were being treated for in the first place.
Deselex contains the active ingredient Desloratadine.

Have you spoken to your doctor about this?
Thank you so much for taking the time to give me very good info. I have been to Doc and am at present trying all sorts of different antihistamines --- to see which one hits the mark. I just somehow think that if Deselex had anything to do with it, Docs would not really say... Anyway its probably off the mark, but it would be interesting to find out if this reaction has happened to anyone else. Wish you well. Thank You
