No, these are both benzodiazepines that treat the same conditions, so there is no need to take both. Additionally, doing so may result in overdose which has the potential to be fatal.
Xanax is also stronger than Ativan, so the latter will have little effect in addition to Xanax.
The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
