Can I Take Percocet W/doxycycline?

i've been on doxycycline for a little over 2 weeks now (100mg 2x daily) for lyme disease...about a week ago i started getting sick with what i believe is the flu (fever, chills, nightsweats, sore throat, nasal congestion, headaches, body aches, etc)..it's been 7 days of it with no end in sight...the headache is really debilitating...can i take a percocet for the headache while on the doxy? Also, is it ok to treat this with anything else (like herbs...echinasia, zinc, airborne, etc.)...I need SOMETHING (advil isn't touching it)

first of all we are talking about a headache, so why would you take a percocet for that? i understand headaches can be bad and annoying but taking a percocet for a headache is ridiculous. percocet if for pain, like serious pain and im sorry but a headache just doesnt cut it. there are medications specific for headaches and bad migraines. leave percocet in its bottle and man up and deal with it. putting medications in your body needlessly as powerful as percocet is a bad idea. its a headache not post op pain.

Erin, I read ur question, did you ever get an answer re taking the percocet w/ doxy? I have the same questions and for Tik who says its just a headache, well i have a high tolerance for pain and I couldn't bare it.

Did any of you bother to read the pamphlet the Pharmacy was supposed to give you? if you get migranes from the doxycycline, STOP taking it, and go to the er to check for increased cranial pressure.

why didn't anyone answer her question instead of lecturing and chastising her? i have the same question and i don't see the point of a lecture i'm more concerned about my health and drug interactions so does anyone know the answer about oxy and doxy?

as far as i can tell the list of medications that it interacts negatively with didnt have it on there. as for taking it for a headache- thats depending on ur pain level. u should always ask ur doctor what u can take... some people just slam pills back and think its ok. u can really hurt urself.

Sex for a headache? Shut the front door! Wtf! And my son suffers from migraines... Is allergic to the so called migraine medications! So he takes a Percocet when he has a migraine... Knocks it out within an hour. Allows him to sleep and be completely pain free. Obviously you have never had a migraine or a headache that has lasted days. If you did you would never have left that ridiculously biased comment. I hope you get a headache/migraine that lasts days so you can follow your own advice. But, I bet you would not if you were in her shoes. Lyme disease is horribly painful as well. So maybe think about ways to be kinder instead of freaking out on someone who clearly has some serious medical issues going on.

My son has to do the same ... Takes one percocet for his migraines and not very often. He is allergic to Triptans... And topamax... We have found that Tylenol 3 makes his headache unbearable when it comes back in a couple hours. Percocet knocks it out of the park, they gave him 2 in children's hospital when he had a 10 day migraine. Was a miracle! After researching all the few medications he wasn't allergic to or sensitive to... We found that they have black box warnings in teens and are only used off label with scary side effects. I hate that he had to take anything but, luckily it's so infrequent and it takes away his pain... He does have to take phenergan for the vomiting that accompanies his migraines. Intercourse for a migraine... Clearly a man who suggested that! Shut the front door is right on!!!!

What a joke, "man up and deal with it." Great medical advice "Doc." You have no idea what this person is going through. I've had lymes disease and I've also had African tick bite spotted fever....have either of those things for longer than a day and then look me in the eye and tell me you wouldn't take or do anything to bring even the slightest bit of relief. What an a**hole.

I am concerned about my friend. he is 76 and infection was found when doing hip replacement. he was sent home taking doxycycline hyclate 100mg twice a day. he stays confused and has trouble making conversation. he is now incontent, digs in his feces and this is not like him at all. could the medicine be to strong or causing this?
