Can I Take Iophen When Xarelto For Afib

I take Xarelto for AFIB ...I have a cold with a bad cough. Can I take iophen-C-NR for my cough?

Iophen-C NR contains Codeine and Guaifenesin, so no, you shouldn't take it without your doctor's approval. The Guaifenesin can sometimes affect your heart rhythm and may be dangerous for those with a pre-existing heart condition.

This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness and dry mouth.

There are some products available that are made for those with hypertension or cardiac issues, such as Coricidin HBP, so you may want to ask your doctor about taking it for your cold symptoms.
