I have sore throat and cough. I have IOPHEN-C NR. It expires 02/09/2016. Can I use it until my appointment?
Hello, Marlene! How are you?
According to the FDA, you should just dispose of it. Liquid medications tend to be especially problematic, once expired, because they can go bad and may make you ill, if you take them. It would be best and safest to see your doctor for a new prescription.
This is a narcotic cough suppressant, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
