Can I Take Hydrocodone After I Have Takennaproxen
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I'm in so much pain right now and I took a naproxen about 6 hours ago(which unfortunately hasn't helped) and I also have a script for norco. Is it ok to take the norco now?

Just call your pharmacist, they know everything, more than a regular doctor
Hi, I have both chronic pain and arthritis. I take both meds and there is no interaction. I know it has been a while since your post but I wanted to reply for other people. You can always call your doctor, pharmacy or look up meds on the internet.
It's true that both medications are frequently administered together because they both target different causes of your pain and therefore provide more effective relief. The Naprosyn or Naproxen is an NSAID which means it helps to decrease the amount of inflammation in your injury site that often times suffers from tendonitis or bursitis. The Norco (hydrocodone, Lortab. ..) contains codeine which is a narcotic pain reliever and helps your symptoms by affecting the pain receptors in your brain or Central nervous system. The acetaminophen also contained in these codeine based pain relievers works the same as any over the counter medication by thinning out your blood and thereby allowing it to flow more freely through joints and pain originated locations. So, as these different drugs all focus on differing roots of the pain you're treating, it is safe to take them together or shortly thereafter ingesting one or the other without fear of endangering yourself by doing so. For the most part when it concerns pain medication, the highest caution should be when taking more than one drug that are both narcotics as opposed to simply one CNS targeted medication combined with an OTC drug. Hope this has helped some with your questions.
Hi Princess02,
Sorry to hear about your pain. From what I could gather, there aren't any drug interactions listed between Naproxen and Norco (hydrocodone + acetaminophen). And with that said I don't have any real reason to believe that it isn't ok to use them together. However this is not to say that their own individual side effects are any less of a risk. So if you do happen to experience bothersome symptoms (knock on wood) I would still encourage you to contact your doctor just to be on the safe side.
Hope this helps!
