Can I Cut A Oxycontin 30mg Half

I have been on oxycodone 30mg for about 6 months now, its time for my refill and my pharmacy is having trouble keeping them in stock. I was givin 2 oxycontin 30mg op by a friend. But from all the bad reviews on the oxycontin im not sure i want to take the whole 30. Is cutting it in half safe? Will it be the same as taking 15mg?

No, it is not safe to cut or break Oxycontin tablets. This is a time released formulation of the medication, so doing so could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once, which may result in overdose.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

No don't cut it. I am only a 115lb lady and where you are on instant release and oxycontin is time released you should have no problems. It may not kill your pain like you are used to but it will help keep you out of withdrawal
