Taking them together is usually not advisable, because they can both cause central nervous system depression, which means lower heart rate, lower blood pressure, lower breathing rate and etc.
It isn't always a serious problem, but sometimes it can be, so it is really just not worth risking it.
Usually it is just recommended to resume it on your normal dosing schedule. If you have been taking it for a long time and just miss one, the chances of it making a difference are very slim, anyway.
