According to the FDA, Cipro is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. Though it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

However, the main issue is that you won't have enough to take a full course of the antibiotics to fully eradicate the infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance. Additionally, it will not help with whatever the underlying problem is that allowed the abscess to develop, thus, you will still need to see your dentist as soon as possible.
