Amoxicillin/Clavulanate is the combination of antibiotic and beta-lactamase inhibitor. Considering this it is said that this drug can treat infection of the lung caused by susceptible bacteria. As for as lung mucous concerns, antibiotics slightly reduce the mucous, but it is suggested to drink plenty of water and a mucolytic agent like acetyl cystine in combination to antibiotic. Steam inhalation would further augment the suppression of mucous and severe cases may require nabulaization.
This is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.
Have both of these medications been prescribed for your son?
Is he on any other medications?
