Yes, antibiotics just eradicate bacteria, they are not gender specific.
However, it would be best to see your doctor and let them prescribe an appropriate antibiotic. Any doctor can do so, it doesn't have to be a dentist.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of an antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
