Can I Stop Xarelto

I have been on Xarelto for a little over 6 months after a PE. My doctor said sonograms show negative for any more blood clots in legs and follow up contrast ct shows clear and blood tests show no markers for predisposition for blood clots, I am 50 with no atrial defeib good blood pressure and strong heart although I am obese, I am afraid doctor wants to keep me on the drug, because of course it is the safe thing to do, what should I do?

I understand your point. Though my heart is now in good shape, I am on a medication to improve heart function, as a precaution, but rather than risk it, I've decided it's best to continue taking it, as per my doctor's advice.
However, that's exactly what it comes down to, you have to decide what is best for you. No one can make you stay on this medication, if you don't want to continue taking it.
You are also free to get a second opinion, if you wish.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
I have noticed major ankle pains since I started , but before I took the contrast ct to verify it was all clear, he as much as said that I had no predisposition for blood clots and everything looked okay so he wanted to KEEP me on it, I equate everything in mechanics, that is like "we did a tune up and changed the oil, but just to be safe we want to change the oil every week, just to be safe"
Hello, Dave! How are you?
Have you discussed it with your doctor? Many people do just take it for a short period of time, until they are in the clear, then they are able to stop taking it.
Are you have any problems with it, such as the side effects, that may include nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches?
Tapering it, with your doctor's assistance, is the safest thing to do, if you wish to get off of it. Stopping abruptly risks causing clots, in some people.
