Butran Patches Problem, Hot Baths

I was recently prescribed Butrans patches, 10 mg. and they are to remain on for 7 days at a time. What no one told me, and this is important, as HOT baths help my pain, when patches and pills don't quite do it, is that a hot bath can cause the patch to release more medicine than is safe or intended, and can result in death. I take the Norco 10s 3x day instead of 4, because the Butrans is supposed to help fill in. I do not want to risk my life for pain control, but pain is the one thing I can't control by myself. What would be a good solution to that patch? I wore one for 7 days before I found out how dangerous it is. I need my hot baths, so now what can I do? I take ibuprofen for the inflammation, also.

Hello, Shuri! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.

Unfortunately, there really isn't much you can do to change it, except turn down the temperature of your baths.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

The only other idea I have is to perhaps remove the patch, while in the tub, until you cool back down, afterwards. You might want to ask your doctor about being able to do that.

Is there anything else I can help with?
