Break Thru Pain

I have been on morphine 60mg extended relief, 3x A day for about 10 years, I have recently noticed that it quit working as well as it did in the beginning so my doctor is going to switch me to oxycoton 30 mg extended relief am I going to go through withdraws because he is only giving me 30mg versus 60mg? I've been through morphine withdraw before and I do NOT want to EVER experience them again!! I am so SCARED!!! I also take 30mg roxys 3x A day for break through pain.

Hello, Chere! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain.

Oxycodone is stronger than Morphine, but the correct conversion would actually be 40mgs of Oxycodone for each 60mgs of Morphine that you were taking. Thus yes, you may experience some withdrawal.

Have you spoken to your doctor about your concern?

The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
