Blue Round Pill E 72

i found a blue round pill with E 72 on one side and nothing on the other. Can anyone help identify this pill?

Based on the description provided, I believe the blue pill you have is called Lovastatin (20 mg); manufactured by Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Lovastatin is an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase), an enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate. Mevalonate is a required building block for cholesterol biosynthesis and lovastatin interferes with its production by acting as a reversible competitive inhibitor for HMG-CoA which binds to the HMG-CoA reductase.

In other words, Lovastatin is used to reduce LDL cholesterol in patients (noted to be as much as 40% reduction with the max dosage of 80 mg).
