Blue Morphine Pill 15 Mg

My Dr prescribes 20mg oxycodone on a monthly basis for my chronic pain. I've been having to take a UA every month when I go to see him. Is this normal practice? I don't abuse the pills. He will only prescribe 75 20 b mgs per month. This is not enough to control my pain but it at least lessens it. Should I find a different dr? I've been a patient there for 5 years. Thx.

Most doctors will require UA's, now, when a patient is on a controlled substance. They want to make sure that you're taking it, as prescribed and not selling them. They also want to make sure that you aren't taking anything that hasn't been prescribed.

Additionally, there are limits on how much they can prescribe, these were put in place by the DEA last year and that also applies to all doctors.

Thus, even if you switched, things aren't really going to change and there is a risk that a new doctor won't prescribe you anything.

The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
