Blue Fluoxetene Not The Same!
Updatedreceived the new dark turquoise prozac generic about a month ago after years of taking first prozac, and then fluoxetene that was a white capsule with a green and black stripe. the new blue ones do NOT work for me, and the fact that the formulation should be identical is scary! i am much moodier and nervous, AND (after seeing a post below) have some numbness in my neck and scalp that i have never had before! i saw my doc and then called pharmacist and he said i am NOT alone and he is ordering me the white capsules with no additional charge. some things are in my head - this is NOT!

Yes, I have to agree that it is probably not just in your head. You will probably be relieved to know that there can be differences in generic medications.
The U.S. FDA is much more strict about that amount of active ingredient in the name brands, but in efforts to get generic versions to market faster, for people that cannot afford the name brands, they are not quite a strict.
The amount of the active ingredient in a generic is allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%. They consider this an acceptable therapeutic window and there are many medications where the fluctuation makes no difference and there are many people that are not sensitive to them, so the change has no effect.
However, in cases where medications dosages have to be carefully titrated, it can cause problems. It can also cause problems in people that are sensitive to them or whose bodies are used to having a certain dosage.
So, for instance say you were taking a 100mg name brand tablet and the other generic you had also contained the right amount, so you were fine. However, there is a chance that the new generic didn't contain the same amount, so you may only have been taking 80mgs, this could result in the types of effects you were experiencing, because your body was used to the amount that you were taking.
I am very glad that your pharmacist if helping you get the other ones, at no additional charge. Most pharmacies will not listen to their customers, when they experience these problems and won't do anything about it.
