I was on Bystolic for 4-6 years, until one day my hair started to fall out. For about a week it kept getting worse. I stopped and the Dr gave me Amlodipine Besylate and I looked it up and this stuff is Bad Bad... The 5 most dangerious Blood Pressure Medications... GEEZE doctors just don't give a CRAP. Change Drs? or try and find a Medication that does not make my hair fall out. I am taking Micardis... That alone does NOT make my hair fall out. Any suggestions i'll try anything, I monitor my blood pressure at home all the time. I am a Medical assistant, so I can take my own Blood pressure and have worked for a Dr. for 10 years. Thanks, HS

Hello, Harley! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you've had.
Hair loss is a possible side effect of most blood pressure medications, so it's really just a matter of finding which one works for you, without causing unwanted side effects. As reported by the FDA, other side effects that most of them have in common include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination.
The ones that work for me and are also generally known to cause less side effects than some others are Labetalol and Atacand, so you may want to ask your doctor about trying one or see if they have any other suggestions.
