hi! ive been using diane pills for 2 yrs back then for the regulation of my menstrual cycle. i stopped using this drug for 2 months then i decided to resume taking it now. for the last 3 days i had my spotting of brown colored discharge then yesterday i had more amount of it. so i thought had my 1st day of menstruation.i tookthe 1st tablet last night but i noticed that on the 2nd day the bleeding has stopped. what should i do? should i continue to take the remaining tablets left? badly need ur expert help.thanks!

thanks for the reply its just that for the past 3 days i started to have minimal vaginal discharge then on the 3rd or 4th day it already started to increase in amount still brownish in color but not good enough to soak a napkin. then the next day it didnt continue, it stopped so i was wondering if that really is a menstruation or just spotting. though the bleeding came at the week i was expecting my period to arrive so i was assuming that the discharges were really menstruation but im worried cause of its very little amount that it might be just spotting. i took my first tablet of diane on the 24th of july 3 days since the bleeding has increased and is still continuing to take it til now. do u think that the bleeding i had experienced is really menstruation or something else? it is the first time that happened to me that very little amount of blood came out. thanks!

Yes, unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you should continue taking them.

Bleeding/spotting can be a normal side effect of them, according to the U.S. FDA, and may continue for about 3 months, or so, while your body is getting used to them, again. Other typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms.
