Bleeding Like A Pig

I started taking sprintec on October 21st, my cycle waa due on the 24th. It didn't come. Usually I'm a normal blender for 2 days, then very light the last 2. I stopped taking sprintec and my cycle came on Nov 2. I have been bleeding like a slaughtered pig, with clots for 5 days.....having to change every hour. What is going on?

The hormone in the oral contraceptive can affect your cycle, it may be heavier or longer than normal.

Did you stop taking it altogether or do you just mean you stopped for the placebo week?

The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms.

With the clotting, you should consult your doctor, because that's usually due to your estrogen being too high, so you may need to try a different OC.
