This is Bisoprolol with Hydrochlorothiazide and yes, it is used to help treat high blood pressure. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, increase urination and dehydration.
It is common to prescribe multiple blood pressure medications, if someone's blood pressure is resistant to others. As long as they are all in different medication classes, there is usually no problem and one or more can be removed later, after your blood pressure levels improve.
