Being Dropped By My Dr

My dr of 8 years dropped me 6 days before my next appointment and her reason was because I had missed an appointment with a dr that was gonna look and see if I still had a gallstone ,but I didn't miss it,I rescheduled it. They cut me cold Turkey on my pain meds and my gap ,with no time to try and find another dr. I have been stressing and having chest pains and my heart rate has been really high. Is this wrong of her ,or am I wrong?

Under current U.S., no doctor is obligated to treat you, unless you are in immediate life threatening danger, nor are they obligated to prescribe any medications. I'm sorry, I know this information doesn't really provide any comfort, I am just stating how things currently stand.

Additionally, in many cases, doctors also require a contract to treat someone for pain, and there are usually specific criteria in the contract that must be met, for them to continue treating you, any breach on your part, can negate the contract, and result in them dropping you as a patient.

If you run out, and start to experience withdrawals, you can go to an ER, or urgent care for assistance, however, there isn't anything you can do about being dropped by your doctor.

Have you tried checking with your insurance company to see if they have a list of preferred providers in your area?
