Bad Infection From A Tooth Extraction

I had a tooth taking out and then dry socket and now a terrible infection around the next tooth. Pain into my ear and throat. I was on Amoxicillin for over 2 weeks and it is not doing anything. My question is there another Antibiotic out there that would help me better then the Amoxicillin. ?? I was thinking of Keflex maybe ??
The hole from the extracted tooth has not healed at all.

Keflex is an excellent antibiotic but it's been around a long time.there are much better options from newer more specified antibiotics for your infection type. contact the dentist or oral surgeon that performed the procedure before you develop a cascading periodontal syndrome ASAP. Best of luck.

Hello, Peggy! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Did your dentist confirm that you had a dry socket?

That's an extremely painful condition and it takes a long while to properly treat to allow the socket to heal, it requires more than just a couple weeks of antibiotics.

As was already said, the proper antibiotic depends on the bacteria, so only your doctor or dentist can decide which one would be best to help you. The FDA lists typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

As to the hole from the extraction, it will take a long time for that to fully heal up. Is it still actively bleeding?

I had an infected left lower molar extracted today and it is still heavily bleeding, I have replaced the gauze pad several times, dark thick blood. I am taking amoxicillin for infection and took two extra strength Tylenol for pain. Is it okay to take my BP meds Amlodipine, will it cause more bleeding?
