Bactrim Ds And My Staph Infection
UpdatedYeah I've developed a staph infection and I got Bactrim DS for it I got 30 tablets but my doctor told me to use it for a week and then stop using it and the pharmacist messed up and put on there take one tablet a day and I think it's supposed to be take two tablets by mouth once a day. So I mean I don't have any more staph infections or anything but they come back quite regularly so because I've got hepatitis c. So I know now that next time I need to take two bactrim a day instead of one. But my question is do I take all 30 pills I mean I stopped taking it a week ago I did what he told me to do what I thought I was supposed to do but then I called his nurse up and she said that I should have taken all 30 that seems like a lot of antibiotics to be taken for a staph infection cuz that's where the doctor said take it for a week and the pharmacy messed up the directions and I was taking one a day but my point being is I need to take to a day obviously but I just don't know if I'm supposed to take all 30 or you know do what he said I'm kind of confused about that

I AM TRYING TO GET INFORMATION ON MEDS THAT MAY NOT BE TAKEN WITH BACTRIM 8OO/160
@Shirley,
There could be any number of medications that interact with Bactrim. My suggestion would be to determine which specific medication(s) you intend to take along side it and then look up the possibility for interactions through the University of Maryland Medical Center's drug interaction tool (accessible at: umm.edu/health/medical/drug-interaction-tool).
@McCord,
Personally, if it were me I would just follow the prescribing doctor's instructions, as 1-2 weeks tops is the usual time frame by which antibiotics are taken anyways. 30 tablets (taken twice daily) would amount to two weeks worth, but I've never been prescribed them for more than 7 days. Perhaps the remaining weeks worth would account for the possibility of an inevitable infection in the foreseeable future (especially due to the hepatitis-c as you noted)... Those are just my thoughts anyway.
How has everything been going since the timing of your post?
