I was prescribed by my doctor to take 1000mg at one time for an infection. I got the pills in MX and each bottle says 500mg and contains 6 capsules. Is each pill 500mg or all 6 pills together 500mg? Do I take it all at once or how do I administer these?

That means that each pill contains 500mgs of Azithromycin, so two would equal the 1,000mgs that your doctor prescribed and you should take it according to his dosing schedule.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
