Avelox is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic for treating bacterial infections. It is most commonly administered in a tablet form.

This drug is an antibiotic. It SHOULD be prescribed ONLY for life threatening infections, but is often prescribed inappropriately for non life threatening infections such as bladder infections and sinus infections. The Avelox Side Effects can be permanently disabling and extremely damaging. Please understand the possibility of these side effects before you take this drug for a non life threatening infection. While these side effects ARE extremely rare, they DO happen and once they do, you can't take them back. They can be permanent. Please know your risk.

After a couple days of using Avelox, I suddenly had terrible pain in the Achilles Tendon of both feet. I had trouble walking. Discontinuing use of this drug stopped the pain. I will never take it again!

I got this drug in the ER for diverticulitis. I told them NO CIPRO and NO FLAGYL. So I was given this instead, not knowing what it was. I am achey all over and exhausted. I took 400 mg for 7 days and ended it more than 3 days ago. How long does it take to get rid of it? I have no appetite. Stomach is unsettled. Some insomnia. Both my hip implants hurt. I need to get this out of my system. I am 75 and should never have been given this drug. So very disgusted with the medical profession these days.
