UpdatedI have been taking 10/500mg hydrocodone for 7yrs and have been told by a lot of people that they will only have 10/325mg hydrocodone on the market in 2014 is that true?

There's a little confusion in some of the replies to your question.
I read today that the FDA is issuing a statement to physicians to avoid prescribing anything with acetaminophen (aka Tylenol) in doses exceeding 325mg per unit (pill, capsule). The amount of hydrocodone, the narcotic pain reliever in Vicodin, is not being reduced. Vicodin is available in tabs containing 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, and 10mg of hydrocodone. The person who mentioned 500mg Vicodin is a little unclear. It could be mistaken that Vicodin contains 500mg of hydrocodone, the narcotic. It doesn't. The max amount of hydrocodone in any Vicodin is 10mg.
Yes it's true and about time. There is no reason to have 500 mg of Tylenol in a single dose pill. If you take 6 a day that's 3,000 milligrams of Tylenol per day and that's too much for your liver if taking long term. It's all pain meds not just Vicodin, Your Vicodin amount will not change so be happy it's a good thing.
What they took out of them is actually the Tylenol. .so if you get the 325mg you can take two are three Tylenol with it and you have a 500mg hydrocodone
I wonder why some drs are telling their patients it's safe to take 1,000 tylenol every 6 hrs long term. The FDA says max dosage for tylenol is 4,000 in 24 hrs.
They are finally reducing the amount of Tylenol from 500 to 350 mg per tablet. The amount of Vicodin will not change
Tylenol destroys the Liver. See also Zohydro, a new dose of Vicodin with no Tylenol or Asa. It was introduced about 6 months ago and is new so please check the spelling.
Yes mama they took the 10-500 mg Lortabs out of the pharmacy's because it was damaged people's livers so glad they did

Yes, it is true. Due to the risk of liver damage or failure that can be associated with long-term use of high amounts, as well as the risk of overdose, the FDA requested that all combination prescription products that contain Acetaminophen be lowered to contain no more than 325mgs per dose.
Some companies have already begun to make the change and remove products from the market that contain the higher amounts of Acetaminophen and the rest will have it completed in a just a few weeks, by the start of 2014.

if your dosage is 3 a day, at the most for 5-500, what would the dosage be for 10-325?
Lmao yes it’s not true. Idk who told you that mess. But they are still available in their respective strengths of 10mg, 7.5mg, 5mg. There’s a pill called zohydro that’s straight Hydrocodone up to 100mg. Very rarely prescribed but fairly new, hard to get I’ve heard. But never seen it come in doses of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 capsule form. Check into that?
But yes the acetaminophen level is only to be 325 I believe now. It used to be as high as 10mg hydro with 1,000mg acetaminophen that’s where the term 1000s comes from lol

There was never 1,000 mg of Acetaminophen in Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Codeine, ect in a single tablet.
No don't do that ! The Tylenol is poison in large amounts and it destroys the liver and it does not make Vicodin stronger. Take aspirin instead with caffein but not more Tylenol
I just received a notice from my medicare-d insurance company saying as of 04/23/14, Hydrocodone- Acetaminophen 7.5/500mg has been removed from the market. I have spinal arthritis/ advanced degenerative disc disease- 2 spinal fusion surgeries so far. To complicate matters I am allergic to salicylates, aspirin,& nsaids. I take Lorcet on a daily basis. I am concerned as to how my quality of life will be affected by this new ruling. Are there other pain meds availble that would be suitable for someone with my allergies?
I'm on 3 a day of 10/500. Went to get my script filled today and the pharm said they took it away so they are calling my dr office for a differ. I didn't know they were quitting the 10/500 at all. Been with the change from blue to whites and the whites are like taking a regular Advil. No pain relief what so ever. I'm dealing with recovering from a brush of death in a mitorcycle accident. Gotta appt this week with a pain mgmnt Dr for permanent nerve damage in my elbow. Not to mention my back issues.
