Antibiotics For Tooth Infection Pain? (Top voted first)

I have been prescribed antibiotics for tooth infections before having dental work and pain went away. I'm allergic to penicillin can i take cefdinir? if I take cefdinir for this and I don't have an infection will it hurt me?

It is a different antibiotic, but there is always a risk of discovering that you're also allergic to it. People allergic to one medication tend to find out there are others they are allergic to and if you don't have an infection, taking it could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. Thus, you should only take it if your doctor or dentist confirms that you do have an infection.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

No thank you i wont be taking it im not intersted in any of the side affects and i go into cardiac arest on penicilian so ill just endure the pain although im pretty positive its an infection

I have a really bad tooth infection and my cheek is really swollen. My brother in law gave me Pota-Vi-Kin Penicillin V 400,000 U. How many and how often should I take a day to get rid of this swollen cheek?

Yes. If the tooth is infected. Clean and rinse your mouth out with a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice; and take 2 or three days worth of the following medication: (1 / levofloxacin 500mg) + (1 / regix) + (1 / ampiclox 250mg) + (1 / arinac forte).

Take these medications for 3 days and one time a day after 5 minutes of eating dinner.
