Antibiotic Expiration Date
UpdatedI have left over cephalexin 500mg from 5/21/15. It expired 5/17/16 and I really would like to know if I can still take them?

They do not become dangerous, once expired, but they do start to lose effectiveness so they may not work as well to eradicate infectious bacteria. You also may not have enough to take a full course of treatment to kill the relevant bacteria.
Thus, it would be best to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new supply.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.
Is there anything else I can help with?
