Yes, multiple medications are often given, if someone has very high blood pressure or treatment resistant hypertension. Once it is under control, medications can be lowered or removed from the regimen, as necessary.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, hypotension, headache, dry mouth and stomach pain.
