Well, they an if they wish and in most cases they will, to check and see if you are on anything, since they have to be careful how they treat you if you are.
It is not the same as having it reported to the police, though, this is only done if you were arrested or in a car wreck or something.
They also get these samples to run tests for various health conditions.
