Amphetamine Tab Pink Vs Orange

I take the amphetamin salts combo tablet and on occation I have had problems getting this filled because of the shortage there seems to be with this particular medication. My question is why is it that sometimes I get a round pink tablet and other times I get an oval orange tablet? I don't think that the pink tabs work as well as the orange. Why is that and which one is better?

The reason you sometimes get a different is due to the fact that this is a generic medication, so it is manufactured by several different companies. In such cases, it is normal for a pharmacy to switch and provide the one from whichever company has the cheapest price, when they need to restock their supply. This is how they keep prices down for customers that don't have insurance.

As to why one may work better, there can be slight differences in the amount of the active ingredient, plus the inactive ingredients can be different.

The best thing you can do is check the details regarding the tablets that work for you, such as the markings on them, or who the manufacturer is and then you can ask the pharmacy to order that one in for you.
