Amoxicillin Usage

Have oral Amoxicillin that was my son's. Can I take it.

Why do you want to take it?

You really didn't provide enough details for anyone to be able to answer your question and there are several issues at play.

Has the presence of an infection been confirmed by your doctor?

Because Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that will only treat bacterial infections.

Additionally, if it's what's leftover from your son's prescription, you may not have enough to complete a full course of treatment, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance bacteria. That's why you're always supposed to finish all of the antibiotic that you've been prescribed, to ensure that the bacteria is fully eradicated.

And another issue is that either this antibiotic, or the dosage may not be correct to eradicate the infection, if you do have one.
