I was prescribed 500mg of amoxicillin because I have a broken tooth with the roots fused together and it's embedded in my nerve. This is my second time with the prescription of amoxicillin 500mg, however I got the second tooth infection after my knee replacement and I'm not scheduled for tooth surgery for another 2 weeks the gum and tooth is infected twice as bad now and I don't know what to do HELP!!!!!

Hello, Keya! How are you?

At this point, it's hard to say whether the pain is due to an infection or if the broken tooth is sensitive and the nerves are exposed. Several pain like that usually signifies nerve pain. I think the best thing to do would be to speak to your dentist about what you can take for the pain, until you have your surgery. They might even be able to fit you in sooner, since it's getting worse.

Side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Alternatively, you may also need a stronger antibiotic, or a longer course of it.

How are you feeling?
