Amoxicillin Capsules

I just wanted to add that my doctor also said you can not take all medicines out of their capsules as it can be very dangerous to do this with certain drugs but I was fine doing this with amoxicillin. Always check with your doctor or pharmacy beforehand.
I would imagine you could transfer into a veggie capsule.

Hello, Sharon! How are you?

Yes, you are correct and so were your doctors, but to clarify for anyone curious, the difference lies between whether or not a medication is time released. If it is, then opening the capsules, or crushing the tablets could defeat the time release and may result in your getting too much medication at once, which could result in an overdose.

And some medications, such as high potency potassium supplements can be very, very harsh on the stomach, so they usually carry warnings not to cut or crush them, to avoid the risk of ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Amoxicillin is not time released, so it is usually safe to do so.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Is there anything else I can help with?
